HOLLYWOOD, CA – Everything All At Once and All Quiet on the Western Front swept the 95th Oscars on Sunday as the stars came out to shine on Hollywood’s biggest night at the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, March 12, 2023, broadcast live on ABC.

Emotions ran high with impassioned acceptances speeches that led the festivities as Ke Huy Quan accepted his Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

“Thank you.  My mom is 84 years old.  She is at home watching.  Mom, I just won an Oscar,” Quan said with tears down his eyes with the audience joining in on his emotions during his tear-jerking speech.

“My journey started on a boat,” Quan continued.  “I spent year in a refugee camp.  And somehow I ended up here on Hollywood’s biggest stage. They say, “Stories like this only happen in the movies.”  I cannot believe it’s happening to me.  This  this is the American dream. Thank you so much.  Thank you so much.  Thank you so much today to the Academy for this honor of a lifetime.”

Michelle, Yeoh, speaking backstage after receiving her Oscar was elated as she became part of historical moment. “I have to thank The Academy for acknowledging, embracing diversity and true representation,” Yeoh said. “I think this is something that we have been working so hard towards for a very long time, and tonight we freaking broke that glass ceiling.  I Kung Fu’d it out and shattered it, and we need this because there are so many who felt unseen, unheard.  It’s not just the Asian community.  This is for the Asian community and anyone who has been identified as a minority.  We deserve to be heard; we deserve to be seen; we deserve to have the equal opportunity so we can have a seat at table.  That’s all we’re asking for.  Give us an opportunity.  Let us prove we are worth it.”

“Dreams do come true,” Yeoh said as she accepted her award during the live ABC telecast of the 95th Oscars®.

Brendan Fraser was overcome with emotion upon hearing his name announced as the winner of Best Actor in a Leading Role. “What did I hear when I first heard my name?  I heard my name but I thought, “that can’t be right,” Faser said. “But it was, so I guess I should get up there and say something quick.  I’m sorry.  Now I know what the metaverse really looks like.  And thank you to all my ‑‑ my internet friends who’ve been so generous and I hope that I live up to this.”

Fraser expressed his process for bringing his character, Charlie, to life. “So going to make a film with this gravity just reinforced how important it is to perform as if it’s the first and last time you ever will.  That’s all I’ve got. This has been incredibly rewarding and affirming, and it’s given me a lesson in humility and gratitude.”

Jamie Lee Curtis glowed with emotion and pride in her legacy as an actress and daughter of legendary Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh.

“I know it looks like I’m standing up here by myself, but I am not,” Curtis said holding back tears of joy. “I am hundreds of people.  I’m hundreds of people.  I am — where’s Daniels?  Daniels, Jonathan, Ley Line, the entire crew, my bey Michelle, Ke, Steph, the entire group of artists who made this movie.  We just won an Oscar.”

Curtis thanked her husband Christopher Guest, her daughters, Annie and Ruby and her sister Kelly.

“To all of the people who have supported the genre movies that I’ve made for all these years, the thousands and hundreds and thousands of people, we just won an Oscar.  Together.  And my mother and my father were both nominated for Oscars in different categories, I just won an Oscar.”

Jimmy Kimmel, who parachuted his way into the opening of the broadcast, kept the evening lively with puns and jokes in keeping with film themes and this year’s nominees.

Highlights of the show included musical performances by Lady Gaga, Rhianna and Lenny Kravitz.
