The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored music entertainment executive Sir Richard Branson with the 2,647th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.

Hollywood, Calif. – The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored music entertainment executive Sir Richard Branson with the 2,647th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. PDT.  The star was dedicated in the category of Recording at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Guinness Museum of World Records.

Sir Richard Branson is the Founder of Virgin Group, a leading international investment group and one of the world’s most recognized and respected brands. Conceived in 1970 by Branson, the Virgin Group has gone on to grow successful businesses in sectors including travel and transportation, telecommunications, financial services, leisure and filmed entertainment, and health and wellness.

Branson, who is being honored with a star in the music category started Virgin as a mail order record retailer in 1970 and eventually started a record shop in Oxford Street in London. In 1972, he launched the record label Virgin Records. After building a recording studio, The Manor, the first Virgin artist, Mike Oldfield, recorded and released “Tubular Bells” whose debut album in 1973 became a chart-topping bestseller and was us

ed as the main theme for ‘The Exorcist.’ Virgin Records went on to sign household names such as Sex Pistols, Rolling Stones, Janet Jackson, Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel becoming the biggest independent label in the world. Virgin Records still operates today and has works with artists including but not limited to Daft Punk, Katy Perry and Bastille to name just a few.
