LOS ANGELES, CA — The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tonight honored its student winners from colleges and universities around the world at the 50th Student Academy Awards® ceremony. The Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal awards were announced and presented during an in-person ceremony held at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. This year, the Student Academy Awards competition received a total of 2,443 entries from 720 colleges and universities around the world. With welcome remarks by Patricia Cardoso, the night’s category presenters included “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, SAA committee chair Peggy Rajski and past winners Brad Bailey, Sujin Kim, Ken Kwapis, Freddy Macdonald, Olivia Peace and Kevin Wilson Jr. The 2023 ceremony is available to view here.

LOS ANGELES, CA – Live television event producer Raj Kapoor has been named as executive producer and showrunner, Katy Mullan as executive producer, and Hamish Hamilton as director of the 96th Oscars®, Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang announced today. It will be Kapoor and Mullan’s first time to executive produce and Hamilton’s fourth time directing the Oscars. Kapoor has worked on the show for the past seven years and most recently served as producer for the 95th Oscars. The Oscars will air live on ABC and broadcast outlets worldwide on Sunday, March 10, 2024.
A dynamic creative team returns from the 95th Oscars to work with Kapoor, Mullan and Hamilton to help shape the vision and direction of the 96th Oscars, including creative director Kenny Gravillis, production designers Misty Buckley and Alana Billingsley, red carpet show executive producer David Chamberlin, and red carpet creative consultants Lisa Love and Raúl Àvila.

Kapoor has earned six Emmy® Award nominations and won for executive producing the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) “Adele: One Night Only.” In addition to several Oscars shows, Kapoor’s credits include “The GRAMMY Awards®,” “ACM Awards,” “Latin GRAMMYS,” “The Emmy Awards,” “Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration,” “Norman Lear: 100 Years of Music and Laughter” and “The Disney Family Singalong” specials. Mullan is an executive producer, showrunner and partner in the global live event production company Done + Dusted. Her work in live entertainment ranges from producing the London Olympics opening and closing ceremonies to “The Little Mermaid Live!” Mullan’s recent credits include “Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration,” “Step Into…The Movies,” several Christmas and New Year’s Eve television specials and the “Disney Family Singalong” franchise.
Hamilton made his Oscars debut directing the 82nd Academy Awards® telecast in 2010 and subsequently directed the 86th and 87th Oscars, both of which earned him Emmy nominations. He has directed many other celebrated live televised events, including “The Emmy Awards,” “The GRAMMY Awards,” 14 Super Bowl halftime shows (most recently in 2023 featuring Rihanna), and the opening ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics. Hamilton has earned 11 Emmy Award nominations, a Peabody Award, a BAFTA Award, and a GRAMMY Award nomination for the musical special “Robbie Williams – Live at the Albert.” He is a partner in the global live event production company Done + Dusted.
Gravillis returns to conceptualize the key art for this year’s Oscars marketing campaign. His design agency, Gravillis Inc., recently rebranded Orion Pictures and has developed iconic key art and campaigns for legions of movies, including “Dune,” “Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised),” “Birds of Prey,” “Queen & Slim,” “BlacKkKlansman,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Free Solo,” “Iris” and many more. A member of the Academy’s Marketing and Public Relations Branch, Gravillis also created posters and collateral materials for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ retail store.
Buckley and Billingsley return as production designers for this year’s show. They earned Emmy nominations for their work on the 95th Oscars. Buckley has designed world tours and productions for such artists as Ariana Grande, Kacey Musgraves and Coldplay, including the band’s Super Bowl halftime show. She also designed the 2021 GRAMMYS, the London 2012 Paralympics Closing Ceremony, the 2015 Rugby World Cup Opening Ceremony, the 2022 Commonwealth Games ceremonies, the Brit Awards and numerous television productions for the BBC and ITV. Buckley earned a BAFTA nomination for her work with Stormzy at the 2019 Glastonbury Festival and Emmy nominations for her production design of “Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl,” the 2021 GRAMMYS and Disney’s “The Little Mermaid Live!.” Billingsley was an art director on six previous Oscars broadcasts, for which she earned five Emmy nominations and won two Emmys. Additional credits include “The Kennedy Center Honors,” “The Emmy Awards,” “The GRAMMY Awards,” “CMA Awards,” “BET Awards” and numerous other live television productions.
Chamberlin will return for the fifth consecutive year to executive produce ABC’s “The Oscars Red Carpet Show,” the official live lead-in to the 96th Oscars broadcast. Chamberlin leads Full Day Productions, with credits including the ESPY Awards, NFL Honors, the “Savage X Fenty Show,” “The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration,” multiple “30 for 30” films, and “Monday Night Football” with Peyton and Eli.
Love and Àvila will join the team for the second year to create the Oscars red carpet aesthetic and guest experience. They led the creative team for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ 2021 and 2022 galas and will lead the upcoming gala.
The 96th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be televised live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide.

The star will be unveiled at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard next to Amoeba Music. Stefani will be honored with her star in the category of Recording. There will be a street closure between Argyle and El Centro beginning at 10 a.m.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce administers the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame for the City of Los Angeles and has proudly hosted the globally iconic star ceremonies for decades. Millions of people from here and around the world have visited this cultural landmark since 1960.

The BAFTA Cymru Awards honour excellence and celebrate talent across film and television in Wales.

Save the Cinema scooped two awards with Jo Thompson winning Costume Design and Jonathan Houlding receiving the award for Production Design.
This year’s Siân Phillips award recipient Rakie Ayola also won her first BAFTA Cymru award for Actress for her performance in The Pact and Taron Egerton received his first BAFTA Cymru Award for Actor in Black Bird. Universal City, California, October 12, 2023 – Universal Studios Hollywood celebrates the festive holidays with eagerly awaited seasonal favorites, “Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™” and “Grinchmas,™” beginning Friday, November 24, 2023, and running daily through Monday, January 1, 2024. All holiday activities are included in the price of theme park admission.
“Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” brings the spirit of the holiday season to the village of Hogsmeade™ as the land is transformed with merry décor of shimmering lights, decorative garlands and festive wreaths. Guests can take delight in special holiday a cappella performances from the Frog Choir, stroll through the village shops while sipping delicious hot Butterbeer™ or savor festive fare at Three Broomsticks™.
Beginning at dusk each night, “The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts™ Castle” will dazzle with stunning imagery as the impressive light projection show illuminates Hogwarts™ School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, bringing the iconic Hogwarts™ castle to life and infusing the land with the sounds of an arrangement of music from the Harry Potter film series.
Guests can commemorate their Christmas visit to Hogsmeade Village with a variety of exclusive keepsake items available for purchase, including personalized ornaments, sweaters, scarves and stockings.
The spirited “Grinchmas” Who-bilation also returns with an all-new daytime performance featuring the Who-Bee Doo-Wopsgroup, Who-ville’s latest musical sensation rocking out to hip-swinging, bell-ringing holiday classics for the Whos and guests to enjoy.
The familiar and festive topsy-turvy 65 foot-tall “Grinchmas” tree, adorned with hundreds of ornaments and thousands of LED lights will stand tall within Universal Plaza, entertaining guests with a nightly tree lighting ceremony and snowfall flurry, bringing good tidings and season’s greetings to all.
“Grinchmas” activities will include photo opportunities with the GrinchTM and his faithful dog Max, a chance to spend time with Cindy-Lou Who as she leads daily story time for young guests looking to learn “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and visit to the Who-ville post office to mail a merry postcard sharing three good deeds.
A themed craft area will provide guests the opportunity for jolly holiday decorating by creating paper ornaments to adorn the Grinchmas tree or to take home as a holiday souvenir. Plus, a selection of themed Who-tacular sweet treats, including the Grinch Donut and hot cocoa, will be available for purchase.
Adding to the theme park activities, Universal CityWalk Hollywood will be dressed for the holiday season with spirited décor and a 40-foot-tall Christmas tree featuring more than 200,000 LED lights. The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen presents a new seasonal milkshake, available both at the Foundry milkshake bar and in the dining room. The ever-popular Voodoo Doughnut will entice guests with delicious seasonal flavors to celebrate the holiday spirit. Antojitos Cocina Mexicana serves up a variety of festive-themed drinks, including Mistletoe Mule, Chestnut Horchata and Apple Cider Margarita. NBC Sports Grill & Brew spreads holiday cheer with a tasty Peppermint Martini, and Jimmy Buffett’s® Margaritaville® whips up a deliciously creamy and joyful drink with its Co-co-Colada. VIVO Italian Kitchen offers an assortment of flavorful drinks with the Winter Martini, Apple Cheer Martini and Hot Apple Cider, which is available as a non-alcoholic or alcoholic beverage.
