City of Santa Clarita to Celebrate the Spirit of America with Annual Fireworks Show, July 4, 2020. Fourth of July show to go on. (Update June 30, show canceled.)

Valencia, Calif. -The City of Santa Clarita is excited to announce the annual Spirit of America Fireworks Spectacular will take place this Fourth of July. The fireworks will light up the sky from the launch site near the corner of Magic Mountain Parkway and Citrus Street at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2020. (Updated June 30, 2020: The City of Santa Clarita announced on Tuesday June 30, the show is now canceled.)

“It was important for the City to provide the firework show to our residents,” said Mayor Cameron Smyth. “We wanted to ensure that our community was still able to mark this patriotic holiday.”

 This year’s show will be a non-traditional firework display with several new restrictions in place. Therefore, residents are encouraged to view the display from their vehicles or virtually via Facebook livestream in the comfort of their homes. The show will be livestreamed on the City of Santa Clarita’s Facebook page and can be heard on KHTS, Hometown Station on 98.1 FM and 1220 AM with a special introduction to the fireworks as well as music synchronized to the impressive display.

Westfield Valencia Town Center will be closed to vehicle parking and in-person fireworks viewers. There will also be no vehicle parking or in-person viewing on the streets and parkways surrounding the Town Center. Due to the limited viewing area, the entire show will be livestreamed on the City of Santa Clarita’s Facebook page. (As of June 30, 2020, the annual fireworks show which has annually celebrated America’s independence and freedom is now canceled, the City of Santa Clarita announced on Tuesday.)

Universal CityWalk is Open for Business Starting Today, Wednesday, June 10, 2020.

Universal City, California, June 10, 2020 – Starting today, Universal CityWalk begins a thoughtful phased reopening of select venues welcoming guests back to enjoy the iconic destination as it resumes operations with enhanced health and safety measures.

CityWalk is open daily from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Following is a partial list of select venues that are now open; individual venue hours may vary. Additional venues will be added as the phased opening continues and hours of operation are subject to change. Complimentary self-parking is available during this initial reopening period, subject to change.

Universal CityWalk is implementing new health and safety measures that focus on Screening, Spacing and Sanitization.  A single point of entry now welcomes guests to the destination along with temperature checks and required face coverings.             While working closely with local health officials and the company’s own health and safety experts, Universal CityWalk will continue to monitor conditions and make adjustments as conditions evolve. Specific health and safety measures include:

  • Temperature checks for all Guests upon arrival. If they have a temperature of 100.4° Fahrenheit / 38° Celsius or greater, the Guest will not be permitted to enter.
  • Face coverings required for all Guests throughout their visit. Face coverings also will be available for purchase.
  • Limited occupancy at all venues to help enforce social distancing.
  • Rigorous cleaning and disinfecting at all high touch points, including chairs and tables.

Universal Studios Hollywood remains temporarily closed. Universal Orlando’s theme parks, CityWalk and hotels are now open.

Universal CityWalk Health and Safety Guidelines

All Universal guests are urged to follow CDC guidelines and conduct temperature checks prior to their arrival.  Guests should evaluate their own risk before they visit, and it is not recommended that older adults or individuals at high-risk with serious underlying medical conditions visit.  People who are asymptomatic can still spread COVID-19 if they are infected.  Any interaction with the general public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to COVID-19 and Universal cannot guarantee guests will not be exposed during their visit. For information on CDC guidelines, click here. The City of Santa Clarita Celebrates Graduates in Virtual “Graduation Cap Showcase. (Update: Now on display online.)

Santa Clarita, Calif. – The City of Santa Clarita, along with the City of Santa Clarita’s Art Commission is recognizing the recent milestone of 2020 graduates in a virtual “Graduation Cap Showcase!” Interested participants may submit their cap design by submitting a photo of their physical decorated cap or designing a cap using our virtual cap template and uploading the design. The deadline for submissions had been extended to Monday, June 8.

Many of our City’s graduates had plans to decorate their mortarboards and wear them proudly at their school’s ceremonies. The City is hoping to spotlight the creative talents of our 2020 graduating class, while also bringing joy to them and the community through an online gallery of uniquely designed graduation caps. When submitting an entry online, participants are asked to submit a high resolution cropped JPEG of their decorated cap. Images containing any inappropriate language and content will not be accepted.
