Hollywood Chamber to honor Minnie Mouse with Walk of Fame Star

Hollywood, Calif. – The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Minnie Mouse will be honored with the 2,627th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. PST. The star will be dedicated in the category of Motion Pictures at 6834 Hollywood Boulevard in front of El Capitan Theatre.

“Minnie Mouse is a woman of the ages and her iconic status makes her a great addition to our Walk of Fame!” stated Ana Martinez, Producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies. “Generations of fans of all ages have been looking forward to her seeing her bright new star.”

Helping Emcee Leron Gubler, President & CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to unveil the star will be Robert A. Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, and global pop icon and judge of ABC’s “American Idol,” Katy Perry.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce which administers the popular star ceremonies encourages people who are unable to attend and fans around the world to watch the event exclusively on www.walkoffame.com.

In 2018, Minnie Mouse will mark her incredible 90th Anniversary in entertainment, a rare accomplishment in the industry. It is the perfect time for Minnie to be recognized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and join other Disney characters: Donald Duck, Tinker Bell, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, Kermit the Frog, and, of course, Mickey Mouse, who received his star in 1978 in recognition of his 50th Anniversary at that time.

Minnie made her debut in the Disney classic, Steamboat Willie, and she instantly became America’s sweetheart. For decades, Minnie has delighted generations of fans with her fun-loving, independent personality and timeless style. Her ability to embody a sense of both old Hollywood elegance and grace, combined with girl-next-door charm established Minnie as one of the most beloved animated characters around the world.

A renowned veteran with more than 70 films, Minnie Mouse is one of Hollywood’s most prolific stars. Since the late 1920s, she’s had starring roles and has performed in a number of period pieces, costume dramas, and TV shows.

Minnie is also a long-standing fashion icon. She has served as a muse for designers, inspiring new fashion collections, and has appeared in magazines and runway shows in New York, Tokyo, and Paris. Her classic polka dot look has been reimagined by the fashion industry through the decades and continues to drive current trends. From her early pill-box flower hat, which has inspired ladies’ hat trends, to her famous bow and ears, Minnie has been looked to for style inspiration since her inception.

In addition to the glitz and glamour, Minnie is civic-minded and has used her talent and celebrity to support causes that affect countless communities in positive ways. In 2016 and 2017, Minnie was well represented by Disney fans and social media users who participated in #ShareYourEars campaigns that resulted in $4-million in donations benefitting Make-A-Wish.

Event will be live-streamed exclusively on www.walkoffame.com

FILMING CONTINUES TO FLOURISH IN SANTA CLARITA

Santa Clarita, Calif. – The City of Santa Clarita saw an increase in location filming in 2017 with the Film Office reporting 556 film permits and 1,385 location film days, which generated an estimated $33.9 million in economic impact to our local community.

This represents a 1.5 percent increase in permits, a 1.4 percent increase in film days, and a 3 percent increase to the estimated economic impact when compared to 2016. This is the fourth consecutive calendar year the Santa Clarita Film Office has recorded more than 500 permits, over 1,300 film days and $30 million or more in estimated economic impact generated from location filming alone.

Not included in the reported numbers are the film days and economic benefit from filming that takes place on certified sound stages, which do not require a film permit. “Santa Clarita is one of the preferred places for film production and location filming in the Los Angeles area, as demonstrated by yet another strong year,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “Filming continues to be a big part of our business community and local economy, supporting high paying jobs and hundreds of local companies. We will continue to do everything we can to be a film-friendly City and ensure our unique and beautiful valley remains a top choice for productions.” Many factors have contributed to the continued success and appeal of filming in Santa Clarita, including the City’s Film Incentive Program, Movie Ranch Overlay Zone, low cost permit fees and expedited permit processing, along with the California Film and Television Tax Credit Program.

The Santa Clarita Valley is also located within the entertainment industry’s coveted “Thirty Mile Zone” and offers thousands of film-friendly locations that can double as almost anywhere in the world. Last year, countless television shows took advantage of all the SCV had to offer and more than half of the film days reported in 2017 were attributed to TV production alone. Many locally based shows such as “Atypical,” “Ballers,” “The Guest Book,” “Mayans MC,” “MythBusters,” “NCIS,” “Santa Clarita Diet,” “Shooter,” “Shut Eye,” “Stitchers,” “S.W.A.T.,” “Ultimate Beastmaster” and “Westworld” helped contribute to the reported numbers.

Other shows that filmed on location in Santa Clarita this past year include “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “American Horror Story,” “Animal Kingdom,” “Arrested Development,” “Baskets,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Criminal Minds,” “Drunk History,” “Fear Factor,” “John Claude Van Johnson,” “LA to Vegas,” “The Last Man on Earth,” “The Last Ship,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “The Orville,” “Ray Donovan,” “Seal Team,” “Sharp Objects,” “Teen Wolf,” “Ten Days in the Valley,” “This is Us,” “Timeless,” “Transparent,” “VEEP,” “Young Sheldon” and many more.

Numerous feature films were shot in Santa Clarita in 2017, including A Wrinkle in Time and The Happytime Murders, which were filmed at local sound stages. The 15:17 to ParisA Doggone MysteryA Star is BornAd AstraBook ClubFighting with My FamilyHorse SoldiersJumanji: Welcome to the JungleJust Getting StartedMilesRoman J. In addition, many music videos, lots of online content and plenty of commercials were created right here in the SCV. Incredicoaster Anchors Pixar Pier, Opening with Four Themed Neighborhoods During Pixar Fest at the Disneyland Resort

Anaheim, Ca. Nov. 2, 2017 –The wonderful worlds of Pixar will get a new home at Disney California Adventure Park when Pixar Pier opens in summer 2018, transforming the area that is now Paradise Pier with the thrilling, new Incredicoaster, four new imaginative neighborhoods, plus entertainment, themed food and beverage, and merchandise. Guests will experience Pixar stories and characters in incredible new ways on this seaside waterfront at the Disneyland Resort.

Pixar Pier, a permanent land along the southern shore of Paradise Bay, will debut during Pixar Fest, a limited-time event that begins April 13, 2018. As a new land, Pixar Pier will introduce the exciting new Incredicoaster plus four whimsical neighborhoods where guests step into beloved Pixar stories.

The first neighborhood is inspired by Disney•Pixar’s “The Incredibles” and it will open in summer 2018 with the Incredicoaster. Permanently transformed from the attraction that is now California Screamin’, Incredicoaster will invite guests into a mid-century-modern-style loading area where they board vehicles with a distinctive, new look. New character moments, new scenes and special effects, and an exciting musical score will connect the attraction’s story to Pixar’s “The Incredibles 2,” which opens in theaters June 14, 2018.

The neighborhood inspired by Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story” will be developed around the popular Toy Story Mania! attraction. Another new neighborhood, inspired by Disney•Pixar’s “Inside Out,” will debut a new family-friendly attraction that’s scheduled to open at a later date.

A fourth new neighborhood will celebrate a collection of guest-favorite Pixar stories. Mickey’s Fun Wheel will be themed with a new look and each of the 24 gondolas will showcase a different Pixar character. The iconic face of Mickey Mouse will continue to beam happiness across the Paradise Bay side of the wheel. At the Games of the Boardwalk, which currently includes a game called Bullseye Stallion Stampede, guests will find that all the midway games will be inspired by Pixar characters. New games are expected to include characters from “A Bug’s Life,” “La Luna” and “WALL-E.”

To prepare for these big changes, several attractions will close Jan. 8: California Screamin’, Mickey’s Fun Wheel, Games of the Boardwalk and Sideshow Shirts.

Ariel’s Grotto restaurant and the Cove Bar will be transformed into a Pixar-themed lounge offering sparkling views of Paradise Bay and the new Pixar Pier. Ariel’s Grotto and Cove Bar will close Jan. 8, with Cove Bar reopening briefly in April before its permanent transformation. Guests wishing to reserve “World of Color” dining packages after Jan. 7 may consider Carthay Circle Restaurant or Wine Country Trattoria.

The remaining areas of the original Paradise Pier – including Paradise Gardens, Silly Symphony Swings, Jumping Jellyfish, Goofy’s Sky School, Golden Zephyr and The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure – will become a new land called Paradise Park.

The opening of Pixar Pier will add to the fun of Pixar Fest, a celebration of friendship that begins April 13, 2018. Pixar Fest will include the new fireworks show, “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular;” the return of “Pixar Play Parade,” appearing for the first time at Disneyland Park; the return of “Paint the Night,” performing this time at Disney California Adventure, and new elements added to each of those parades. In addition, guests will find friends from Disney•Pixar films, creatively themed food and beverage items and merchandise that’s exclusive to Pixar Fest.

YOUNG DUBLINERS
OPENING SET BY CRAIC IN THE STONE
The Canyon – Santa Clarita

EVENT DETAILS

The Young Dubliners have built a fervent fan base comparable to that of jam band rockers like Phish and Dave Matthews Band. From their humble beginnings at the Irish Rover, the band evolved through various personnel changes into a pugnacious, crazy but coolly irresistible force of nature. “Even with all the touring we do, the thing that keeps us going is the one thing that never gets old,” says guitarist/vocalist Keith Roberts. “And that’s playing those older songs people love and then mixing in a new song and hearing a positive, excited reaction from the crowd for the first time. We’ve had our share of tough gigs too, but all it takes is that one great show, those perfect moments of band and audience communication, to appreciate what we’re doing up there and why. It’s all about the joy of performing, watching the people dance and hearing them sing along.”
