Don’t Miss the Final JAM Sessions, Revved Up and SENSES Block Party of 2017

 Santa Clarita, Calif. –  The City of Santa Clarita series  Thursdays@Newhall presented by Galpin Subaru, finishes up its outdoor schedule in October with exciting events happening every week. Thursdays@Newhall is an ongoing opportunity for residents of Santa Clarita to attend free shows and concerts, and relax with friends on Thursday nights in Old Town Newhall.

Swing dancing puts a cap on JAM Sessions for the year on October 5 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Folks are encouraged to break out their dancing shoes and get ready to boogie as the Pasadena Ballroom Dance Association teaches the crowd swing dance steps that everyone can do. Singles and couples of all ages will then enjoy music from The Big Butter Jazz Band, whose infectious energy lights up the scene with traditional New Orleans jazz. JAM Sessions is hosted in conjunction with the Ford Theatre Foundation, bringing dance and original live performances to the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street.

Also on October 5, at The MAIN, located at 24266 Main Street, 10 performers will take the stage for 10 minutes each and share their comedy, storytelling, short films and music at the monthly 10 by 10 show from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Performances this month include storytelling by Cait Chock and Stan Sellars; comedy with Dave Child, Lang Parker and the duo of Gabriel Diani and Etta Devine; magic with Glenndalf; music by The New Mexican, Abby Lyons and Burton Zimmer; and short films “Angie and Zahra” and “PHANTASMAGORIC.”

From 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on October 12, the sounds of ponies will be heard along Main Street. No, not the kind you see at the Cowboy Festival! Instead, Ford Mustangs rumble into Old Town Newhall for the Revved Up car show, presented by State Farm. Residents can enjoy food trucks and adult beverages from Persia Lounge while checking out the beauty of these American-made machines. Car owners interested in submitting an automobile for Revved Up can apply at OldTownNewhall.com/RevvedUp.

At the same time on October 12, local songwriters will perform their original works at Note by Note inside The MAIN, located at 24266 Main Street. Featured performers include modern funk group Prussia and additional performances from Jeff Mann, Olivia Brownlee and Rich Jones.  Performers interested in Note by Note can learn more at OldTownNewhall.com/NotebyNote.

Halloween begins on October 19 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the SENSES Halloween Hauntpresented by Galpin Subaru. Whether you come dressed in your spooky best or transform yourself into a monster onsite, be sure to participate in the Halloween costume contest for a chance to win ghoulish prizes. If thrills are more your thing, prepare yourself for a frightening experience at the SENSES maze. Relax with a drink in hand from the on-street bar, provided by 8th and Rail, hang out with friends and enjoy the adult-friendly atmosphere. Complete the evening with grub from one of the food trucks or local restaurants.

As a conclusion to Thursdays@Newhall’s October schedule, the ARTree Speaker Series invites a true leader of the arts in Santa Clarita to speak on “The Art of Parenthood: Nurturing Your Creativity While Nurturing a Family,” at The MAIN on October 26 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Jennifer Fischer wears many hats as Co-Founder of Think Ten Media Group, writer, producer, arts educator and mother. Her work focuses on highlighting shared human experiences. While seven months pregnant and accompanied by a toddler, Fischer produced SMUGGLED, which has been featured across broadcasts such as ABC, Univision and Fusion.

Beverly Hills, Calif. –  Betty White is set to be honored at The Paley Honors in Hollywood: A Gala Celebrating Women in Television in Hollywood on October 12. The gala event is designed to celebrate eight decades of groundbreaking accomplishments of women in television, across genres, and will feature a look back at White’s seven-decades long career.
“I am thrilled to be honored by the Paley Center,” Betty White said in a statement.  “To be acknowledged for working in a business I love for as long as I have is truly a privilege. I’m proud to share this evening with these amazing and talented women.”

Grinchmas™” returns to Universal Studios Hollywood with a Who-lebration of fun fit for The Grinch, his faithful dog Max and a roster of Who-ville Whos.  The annual event comes to life with a towering 60 foot tall whimsical “Grinchmas” tree where Martha May Who-vier and the Who Dolls will take center stage performing energetic musical sets to usher in the Christmas season in style.  The Who-liday Singers—a hip boy-band ensemble—will perform nightly a cappella concerts featuring a mix of Christmas favorites and pop rock.

“Grinchmas” will take place weekends on December 2-3 and 9-10, and daily from December 15 through December 31, 2017.

Spirited holiday décor and festive whimsy will permeate throughout the theme park including “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and the adjoining “Super Silly Fun Land” as a crew of very merry and mischievous Minions gleefully spread Christmas cheer to visitors of all ages.

A spectacular 40-foot tall Christmas tree will glisten with 200,000 LED icicles choreographed to the lights and sounds of the season in the 5 Towers plaza. Santa Claus will make nightly appearances and offer special photo opportunities at 5 Towers.

The iconic, dancing water fountain situated at the heart of CityWalk will also make a splash this holiday season. This visually dynamic fountain, displaying over 230 individual power jets, will project streams of choreographed water into the air complemented by red and green LED lights and an array of holiday-themed music.

Free concert performances at “5 Towers” and an eclectic ensemble of talented street performers will make CityWalk the ultimate L.A. holiday destination.

Los Angeles, Calif. – Profiles in History has announced the Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio and Debbie’s personal family ranch will both be going up for auction at the Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds Personal Property Auction on October 7th, 8th and 9th in Los Angeles.

Debbie established her legendary dance studio in 1979 to create a comfortable space for dancers to rehearse. It’s an 18,000 square foot building. The studio offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, while at the same time providing simple luxuries not found at other studios, including a lounge area, dressing rooms, showers and six spacious studios.

Over the years celebrities like Lucille Ball, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bette Midler, Cher, Usher, Mariah Carey, all have rehearsed their acts at the studio. The scholarship program offers a 10 month individually designed program so dancers could have a unique and personal experience.

The Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio is estimated to sell for $6,000,000 – $8,000,000.
