Few would have guessed that “Weird Al” Yankovic – who as a shy, accordion-playing teenager got his start sending in homemade tapes
to the Dr. Demento Radio Show – would go on to become a pop culture icon and the biggest-selling comedy recording artist of all time, with classic song and music video parodies such as“Eat It,” “Like a Surgeon,” “Smells Like Nirvana,” “Amish Paradise,” “White & Nerdy” and “Word Crimes.” Now in his fourth decade as America’s foremost song parodist, he has been the recipient of numerous awards, including four Grammys® (out of fifteen total nominations) and a string of Gold and Platinum albums.
In 2015 and 2016, Weird Al’s Mandatory World Tour encompassed 200 shows throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia, including two nights at the Hollywood Bowl and a sold-out gig at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Al has remained active as a recording artist. June 2017 saw the release of Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (Dreamworks), for which Al co-wrote and performed the film’s theme song. In 2017, Al wrote and performed “The North Korea Polka (Please Don’t Nuke Us)” for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO). That same year, Legacy Recordings released Squeeze Box: The Complete Works of “Weird Al” Yankovic, a remastered 15-disc box set (including a rarities album) plus a 120-page book of archival photos, all housed in a replica of Weird Al’s trademark accordion. ANAHEIM, Calif. – When Walt Disney opened Disneyland Park on July 17, 1955, it had 18 attractions, no Disney hotels and little but orange groves surrounding it. Today, as the Disneyland Resort marks its 63rd anniversary – during the first-ever Pixar Fest – the original theme park has expanded to become a world-class family resort destination. With more than six decades of inspiration and innovation, the resort now includes two renowned Disney theme parks, nearly 100 exciting attractions, three hotels and the shopping, dining and entertainment district known as Downtown Disney.
Disneyland commemorated its role as the original Disney theme park Tuesday with festivities that included the “Happiest March on Earth” down Main Street, U.S.A. Triumph Foundation celebrates milestones and looks to grow community support at annual fundraiser that supports its mission to serve those who have become paralyzed.
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIF. –Triumph Foundation is hosting its 8th annual ‘Let’em Roll’ Fundraiser, returning to the Universal Hilton in Universal City, CA on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 5:00pm-11:30pm. All proceeds will benefit Triumph Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to minimize the obstacles for children, adults, and Veterans that suffer from spinal cord injuries and other forms of paralysis. Guests will be treated to a prime rib dinner, dancing and silent auction, as well as $500 in chips to play games.
“For the last ten years, Triumph Foundation has partnered with people who become paralyzed to assist them with triumphing over the new challenges they face to restore their lives,” says Andrew Skinner, Triumph Foundation’s Founder who suffered a spinal cord injury in 2004. “One of the highlights of our year, the Let’em Roll Fundraiser brings the entire community together for a night of fun and to celebrate our accomplishments. We are proud to make quality of life a reality for people.”
This year, Triumph will be honoring Dr. Thomas Hedge, MD, a spinal cord injury specialist in Northridge, CA. Practicing for 40 years, Dr. Hedge specializes in spinal cord injury, rehabilitation and brain injury medicine.
Last year, over 350 people attended the ‘Let’em Roll’ Fundraiser, which raised over $100,000. The fundraiser is not a typical gala, but instead an inspirational, impactful, and powerful event that builds relationships, raises funds for an important cause, and changes lives.
This year, the organization is doubling down on its commitment to the needs of the paralysis and disability community and expanding programs to change the world for many more needy recipients. Double down with Triumph by coming out to play on July 28th.

Inspired by the global blockbuster movie franchise, Kung Fu Panda, the attraction takes guests on a thrilling journey that fuses captivating storytelling with state-of-the art visual effects for a highly engaging experience.
Created and produced by DreamWorks Animation and Universal Creative, “Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest” recounts a plot-filled story whereby on the morning of The Emperor’s Great Feast of Heroes, dragon warrior Po embarks on a wild and perilous mission to deliver the rare and precious Liquid of Limitless Power to the Palace, while enlisting guests to join him on the exciting adventure replete with raging rapids, river pirates, awesome magic and Kung Fu.
With cutting-edge technology at the forefront of the multi-sensory attraction, “Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest” introduces the first-ever integration of interior projection mapping designed to engulf guests in 180 degrees of immersive adventure. Developed by the innovative team at Universal Creative, this never-before-adapted technique depicts a series of immersive and visually dynamic scenic designs that will transform within the interior space and enhance the story. With detailing that is so precise, it will be near impossible to realize the projected imagery is a mere illusion.
Coupled with seven Christie 4K Boxer Cinema Projectors and 360 degree surround sound audio, sweeping physical effects from water to wind will empower guests to feel more like participants than spectators in the adrenaline-spiked adventure.
Featuring an original score by composer Germaine Franco, the storyline begins as guests enter the pre-show area of the theatre where they meet an array of DreamWorks characters who kick-off the attraction’s narrative. From there, guests enter the main theatre, complete with new ultra-plush, fully articulated seats that pivot and swivel in tandem with the 180-degree action.
The newly constructed building that houses the DreamWorks Theatre is inspired by Mission revival architecture and harkens back to the Golden Age of Hollywood’s Art Deco period of the 1920s, including a box office ticket seller booth, reminiscent of the time period and staffed by a three-dimensional usher asleep on the job.
As guests navigate past the ticket booth, through the flourishing outdoor garden and into the theatre queue, they will encounter a series of 36 movie posters that pay homage to DreamWorks Animation films. Within the lobby, a selection of over 20 award statuettes will be on display, representing a sampling of the Golden Globe, Emmy, People’s Choice, Critic’s Choice, National Board of Review and Annie awards DreamWorks Animation has amassed from 2008 to 2015. A collection of original sculpted maquettes of the “Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest” characters will also be on display along with artifacts embodying magical powers that Po brought back from the Spirit Realm.
This summer, guests are also invited to spend time with Po and Tigress as part of a special character meet and greet located within the park’s Universal Plaza.
