Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative and United Way of Greater Los Angeles
Invest $375,000 in Santa Clarita

Santa Clarita, Calif. – The Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative and United Way of Greater Los Angeles recently announced the recipients of increased Measure H funding to combat homelessness in cities throughout the county. The City of Santa Clarita is one of 20 cities receiving new grant funds to help implement the next phase of its plan to address and prevent homelessness.

The City of Santa Clarita will receive $300,000 from the L.A. County Homeless Initiative under the organization’s Priority Area 1 plan. These funds will be used to increase the supply of interim and permanent housing for people experiencing homelessness. The City was also awarded $75,000 under Priority Area 2, which will be used to enhance services for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

“The funds are coming to our community at a critical time,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean. “Our local service providers are at a point where funds are necessary to provide resources and opportunities to continue to implement the kind of programs and facilities that our community requires. We are hopeful that these funds will help towards a true and lasting impact on homelessness in Santa Clarita.”

The $300,000 awarded to the City will be used to acquire property for interim family housing for Family Promise in Santa Clarita. The $75,000 award will be put toward a homeless coordinator in the City, who will be responsible for administrative oversight of Santa Clarita’s Community Plan to Address Homelessness.

The L.A. County Homeless Initiative was created by the L.A. County Board of Supervisors and is charged fighting homelessness in the county and provides oversight, hands-on guidance and funding to cities for services and programs through Measure H.
