As panic and chaos ensue, the source is revealed:  JURASSIC WORLD’s unstoppable Tyrannosaurus rex tramples her way across sets and sound stages to ignite Universal Studios Hollywood’s new marketing campaign, It Just Got Real, in support of the theme park’s eagerly awaited mega attraction, “Jurassic World—The Ride,” opening this summer.

“Jurassic World—The Ride” will debut an original storyline that takes place within the theme park as depicted in Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s film, JURASSIC WORLD, on the day the Indominus rex escapes.

The exciting thrill ride will soar to new heights with the addition of several iconic dinosaurs from the movie, including the colossal Indominus rex and the magnificent aquatic Mosasaurus that will mesmerize onlookers in her natural habitat from behind a three million gallon glass encased Aquarium Observatory tank.

“Jurassic World—The Ride” comes to life under the direction of the award-winning and inspired minds at Universal Creative, the Academy Award®-winning special-effects visionaries at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), a division of Lucasfilm, Ltd., Universal Pictures and acclaimed filmmakers Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow and Frank Marshall.

The aesthetics of “Jurassic World—The Ride” will be dramatically enhanced welcoming guests to a reimagined space reflective of the JURASSIC WORLD films. In addition, there will be a fresh new entry statement, stonework landscaping and a contemporary redesign of the iconic JURASSIC WORLD gates, illuminated with billowing flames.

Engaging and interactive queue-line videos featuring facts and information about the dinosaurs within the ride will set the tone for the expedition ahead, as guests learn more about these imposing prehistoric creatures that first roamed the earth more than 65 million years ago.

Once aboard specially designed rafts, guests will navigate the lush environs of dense vegetation, traversing new areas besieged with towering dinosaurs meandering at just an arm’s length away from visitors.  Encounters with such docile creatures as the Stegosaurus and Parasaurolophus will quickly turn awry as predatory Velociraptors and Dilophosaurus begin to wreak havoc, turning guests from spectators to prey.  When the Tyrannosaurus rex begins to battle one of the attraction’s new ferocious dinosaurs, the rafts will spill down a treacherous 84-foot waterfall as the sole means of escape.

Located adjacent to the ride will be a new elaborately themed “Raptor Encounter” where Blue, the most belovedVelociraptor from the JURASSIC WORLD franchise, will engage guests in daring face-to-face encounters.

In addition, a new interactive “Dino Play” area will incorporate educational components within an inspired space where children of all ages can explore and excavate giant dinosaur fossils.

CITY OF SANTA CLARITA LAUNCHES EMERGENCY LOCATING SYSTEM MARKERS TO CITY TRAILS.

New Signs Help Trail Users Easily Convey Their Location During Emergencies

Santa Clarita, Calif. – Trail users in Santa Clarita will now be easier to find during emergencies – even in the City’s vast open space hiking areas – thanks to a new Emergency Locating System recently launched by the City of Santa Clarita. As part of the system, a total of 658 markers have been posted every 1/8 mile on all City trails, including bike paths and hiking trails.

A new Emergency Locating System recently launched by the City of Santa Clarita, as part of the system, a total of 658 markers have been posted every 1/8 mile on all City trails, including bike paths and hiking trails.

The trail markers provide a quick and easy way to convey a location during an emergency situation. Each marker displays a specific number which designates its location. These numbers correspond to a GIS map that first responders can use to locate the emergency. When a hiker or cyclist provides an emergency operator with the designated number, the operator will be able to pinpoint the location and know where to dispatch emergency personnel.

The City is constantly looking for ways to ensure the safety of its residents, and this new Emergency Locating System will cut down response times during emergency situations. After over a year and a half of planning and design, the system is now in place and ready to be used by residents and visitors who are out enjoying the City’s trails.

Still time to see Pompeii: The Exhibition, at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, now through April 21.

Simi Valley, Calif., – Pompeii: The Exhibition, at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, features over 150 authentic artifacts on loan from the renowned Naples National Archaeological Museum in Italy. The exhibit will close on April 21, 2019. The exhibit opened in October and there is still time to see the exhibit which features original, 2,000-year-old objects that were preserved in the ash.

These artifacts include wall-sized frescos, marble and bronze sculptures, jewelry, ancient Roman coins, and full body casts of the volcano’s victims. Around mid-morning on August 24, 79 A.D., Mount Vesuvius erupted.  Molten rock and pumice was expelled from Mt. Vesuvius at a rate of 1.5 million tons per second.  Rocks and volcanic ash filled the atmosphere, turning day into night.  Within 24 hours, the Roman city of Pompeii lay destroyed – and perfectly preserved – under 15 feet of ash and volcanic debris.  It is estimated that about 16,000 people died in the eruption.

Pompeii: The Exhibition, at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, features over 150 authentic artifacts on loan from the renowned Naples National Archaeological Museum in Italy. The exhibit will close on April 21, 2019. The exhibit opened in October and there is still time to see the exhibit which features original, 2,000-year-old objects that were preserved in the ash.

In 1748 when explorers examined the site, they found that the volcanic ash had acted as a preservative, and many of the buildings and even the skeletons and remnants of city life were still intact. This city frozen in time provided historians with a glimpse into what life was like in ancient Rome.

These artifacts, set in scenic depictions of their original surroundings, tell the tale of the bustling city of Pompeii, hidden from view and forgotten for centuries until its rediscovery over 250 years ago. The catastrophic power of volcanoes is also illustrated through an immersive CGI experience of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The impact and devastation is evidenced by full body casts (plaster casts made from the hollows left in the ash that hardened around the now disintegrated bodies of the victims, found upon excavation), eerily preserved in their final moments.“5 stars for the Pompeii special exhibit – It was a fascinating peek into the lives of the people before Mt. Vesuvius erupted and the aftermath of the explosion.” – Karen W; Yelp Reviewer

EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHTS

The exhibition’s media-rich, immersive experience transports visitors back in time to 79 A.D. where they will embark on a journey through the ancient city, culminating with the fateful morning of the eruption. They will learn how Pompeii was a bustling commercial port and strategic military and trading center, while its neighbor Herculaneum, also buried by Vesuvius, was an exclusive Mediterranean resort. Artifacts bring this world to life as visitors discover how its people lived, loved, worked and worshipped.

Included among the more than 150 authentic artifacts are: mosaics and frescoes, gladiator armor, weapons, a ship’s anchor, ceramics, plates, furniture, jewelry, medical instruments and tools.

A simulated 4-D Eruption Theater experience allows visitors to experience the devastating impact Mount Vesuvius had on Pompeii, culminating in the reveal of full body casts of twisted human forms, asphyxiated by extreme heat and noxious gases.

“This exhibit was the next best thing to a trip abroad. Fascinating artifacts with strong explanations as to the background of the items. Video to enhance the exhibits was professionally produced and educational. There was a 4-D movie experience that was phenomenal.” – Joanne F; TripAdvisor Reviewer

Additionally, archaeological details present a unique record of Pompeii’s daily life including roads, buildings, and municipal services.

This not-to-be-missed exhibition is thrilling for adults and appropriate for the whole family.

PARENTAL WARNING:

Although this exhibition is appropriate for people of all ages – and includes great history lessons for children – it’s important to remember that ancient Roman cities held a very different view of sexuality during that period, so a few of the sculptures feature era-specific depictions of men and women without clothing.  There is also one area of the exhibition with more mature content (there is a parental advisory notice outside the entrance to this gallery) and the gallery can be skipped if you prefer.  Our exhibit features a very realistic 4-D experience that simulates a volcanic eruption–complete with flashing lights, sounds, visuals and vibrations that may frighten some youngsters.

REAGAN & THATCHER: THE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE UNITED KINGDOM AND THE UNITED STATES AND THE FRIENDSHIP THAT CHANGED THE WORLD, April 13 – June 2, 2019 .

Simi Valley Calif. – As the United States and the United Kingdom share a special relationship, so did President Ronald Reagan and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.   At the crux of their relationship was a deep commitment to shared principles, mutual support, and a genuine personal friendship.  This story will be told in the brand-new exhibition: Reagan and Thatcher: The Friendship that Changed the Worldopening at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum on April 13, 2019

Reagan and Thatcher: The Friendship that Changed the Worldopening at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum on April 13, 2019

“I’d planned on spending only a few minutes with Margaret Thatcher but we ended up talking for almost two hours.  I liked her immediately – she was warm, feminine, gracious, and intelligent – and it was evident from our first words that we were soulmates when it came to reducing government and expanding economic freedom.” – Ronald Reagan

“Fate decided that Ronnie should be in charge of the great United States when I was in charge politically in Britain…We had almost identical beliefs. From very different backgrounds, very different circumstances, we had come to this passionate belief that the world is not created by governments, it is created by the creativity of man.” – Margaret Thatcher

Reagan and Thatcher: The Friendship that Changed the World brings together objects and artifacts never before shown together in an exhibition, including an audio recording of a phone conversation between President Reagan and Baroness Thatcher on Grenada, correspondence, photos and videos, a decommissioned Cold War missile, the dress Mrs. Reagan wore for the State Dinner in honor of Margaret Thatcher in 1981, the raincoat Prime Minister Thatcher was famously photographed in while riding in a Challenger 1 Tank in West Germany, and over 50 additional objects.

“The bond that President Reagan and Prime Minister Thatcher forged beginning in 1975 truly changed the world,” said John Heubusch, executive director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute. “It’s only fitting that an exhibition dedicated to their friendship – a friendship that truly did change the world – be told at the Reagan Library.”

“When I acquired this collection of artifacts of Lady Thatcher in 2017, it was always my hope that one day they would go on exhibit to tell her remarkable story involving world leaders like President Reagan,” said Sir Peter Wood. “I’m honored to have been able to be a part of this one-of-a-kind exhibition.”

“There is something endlessly fascinating about this unlikely duo, the London housewife and the Hollywood film star, who set off to do battle against enemies without and within, defying odds and expectations to win some famous victories and shift history their way,” said Chris Collins from the Margaret Thatcher Foundation.  “This exhibition brings it all together, from Cruise missiles to ballgowns, and much in between. We are delighted to have been able to help.”

Their mutual respect is evidenced in President Reagan’s own diary, where Lady Thatcher is mentioned over 60 times.  In these entries, Prime Minister Thatcher is described by President Reagan as, “a tower of strength and a solid friend of the U.S.” and was appreciated for her efforts to, “get allies to be more forceful in their actions.”  Margaret Thatcher, in turn, admired President Reagan and asserted that he “won the Cold War without firing a shot.” Together, they not only supported each other, but provided leadership and vision to the rest of the world.

Reagan and Thatcher is made possible in part through the contributions of Sir Peter Wood and the Margaret Thatcher Foundation.
