Santa Clarita, Calif. – The 2019 Amgen Tour of California will be the longest and most challenging in its 14-year history, with details announced today by AEG, owner and presenter of America’s only UCI WorldTour race. Throughout seven stages over seven days (May 12-18, 2019), the world’s elite professional cyclists will contest mountain roads, highways and coastlines from Sacramento to Pasadena.
On Saturday, May 18, 2019, the City of Santa Clarita will host the start of the final stages for both the men’s race (Stage 7) and women’s race (Stage 3). The race will start in Santa Clarita and travel 87.6 miles to Pasadena for the finish. This is the tenth year the City of Santa Clarita has been a host city for the Amgen Tour of California and brings the total number of stages hosted in Santa Clarita to 14.
The Santa Clarita City Council revealed the route maps at a press event today held at City Hall. “We always have a spectacular time hosting this world-class cycling event here in Santa Clarita. Historically our City has hosted stage finishes, so we are excited to be doing things a little different this year by hosting the start for the final stages of both the men’s and women’s races,” said Mayor Marsha McLean. “We want to encourage residents to come out to enjoy the excitement and support the cyclists!”
The Amgen Tour of California is a 773-mile course through 13 Host Cities and will ante up 14 Sprints, more than 68,000 feet of elevation gain and 25 King of the Mountain (KOM) climbs, the most in race history, and includes a fan-favorite Mt. Baldy summit finish. More than half of the seven stages feature 120+-mile courses. Santa Clarita is home to some of the state’s most avid cycling communities. Race organizers are predicting an exciting start and finish, so residents are encouraged to attend and join in on the excitement.
With seven new courses between them, the Amgen Tour of California Women’s Race empowered with SRAMwill run concurrently May 16-18, using many of the same routes as the men’s course. Also the longest women’s race in event history, the 177.8-mile, three-stage road race course will see the athletes climb more than 20,800 feet, including eight QOMs.
Presented by Visit California, the route announcement includes a visual overview of the 2019 men’s and women’s courses at www.amgentourofcalifornia.com.

Santa Clarita and Pasadena have a storied tradition of hosting the Amgen Tour of California grand conclusion. While this may look like an easy stage on paper, there will be challenges from start to finish as teams protect their GC riders from attacks and set up their sprinters to win the stage. The race’s traditional start in Santa Clarita will be at the Town Center Mall. The route will then turn north out of the city on Soledad Canyon Road, through the Antelope Valley, to the first sprint of the day in Acton. Turing onto Aliso Canyon Road, the riders will work their way onto Angeles Forest Hwy and into the Angeles National Forest.
The first climb will come at Mill Creek Summit, then downhill and left onto Upper Big Tujunga to the final climb of the race at the intersection with Angeles Crest Highway. It will be downhill as the riders pass Redbox and Mt. Wilson. A quick dash through La Canada Flintridge will take the race down Rosemont Avenue to the famed Rose Bowl for the ultimate race finish.
This stage shares a common start and finish for the women and men, with two slight differences. Whereas the women will come straight up Angeles Forest Highway to Angeles Crest Highway, the men will turn on Upper Tujunga to add mileage and one final climb. The women conclude the day first, coming to the finish line and completing one lap. Just as they began the week with three Capitol circuits during Stage 1 in Sacramento, the men will blaze through three circuits of the Rose Bowl to conclude the race.
Portions of the route affected by adverse weather and natural events will be inspected up until race time, and race routes are subject to change to ensure fan and rider safety.
The Amgen Tour of Californiaorganizers announced the 13 Host Cities selected for the 14th edition of America’s premier professional cycling stage race set for May 12-18, 2019. Throughout seven stages over seven days, the world’s elite cyclists will contest more than 750 miles of roadways, highways and coastlines from Sacramento to Pasadena.
“We are thrilled the Amgen Tour of California overall finish will occur in Pasadena,” said Michael Ross, chief executive officer of the Pasadena Center Operating Company, “This signature event attracts top cyclists from around the world and brings international awareness to our historic and world-class city. It is a tremendous privilege that Pasadena will once again get to play a part in such a storied sporting event for the sixth time.”

PASADENA, Calif. – On Valentine’s Day, you can feel the love at The Rose with Abbey Road, who will be performing their “Love Songs from the Beatles” show. The nationally touring band will do costume changes reflecting different periods in the Beatles’ career from their puppy dog heyday to the “All You Need Is Love” era and they’ll be singing plenty of love songs, too.
There’s no “I” in “Beatles,” said Chris Paul Overall, who performs as “Paul McCartney” in the show. There was genius in the Beatles’ writing of their 1964 classic “She Loves You” in the third person, rather than a first person, “I Love You.” “‘I love you, yeah, yeah, yeah,’ doesn’t have the same impact as hearing it in the third person,” said Overall.
Beatles tribute band, Abbey Road, performs “Love Songs from the Beatles” on Thursday, February 14 at the Rose. Tickets are $24.50 / $38.50 and may be purchased by phone at 888-645-5006 or online atwww.wheremusicmeetsthesoul.com. The Rose is located at 245 E. Green St.Pasadena, CA 91101. Under 18 persons must be accompanied by a paying adult.
From First Time Art Buyers to Celebrity Art Collectors, the LA Art Show Continues to Bring New & Lifelong Art Enthusiasts to the Nation’s Fastest Growing Arts Capital
Los Angeles, Calif. – From January 23 – 27, 2019, fair-goers packed the LA Convention Center’s West Hall to attend the 24th annual LA Art Show, the city’s longest-running art fair and the largest and most comprehensive showcase on the west coast. 120+ galleries from 18 countries packed the hall’s 200,000 square feet of exhibition space, featuring modern and contemporary works, blue chip art, historical pieces and a stunning breadth of new contemporary and lowbrow work from around the world. Returning for the third year in a row, DIVERSEartLA’s donated exhibition space showcased installations and performances from non-profits, museums and institutions from around the world, including for the first time ever CCK – Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Art Share LA. The LA Art Show once again cemented its position as the most diversely programmed art fair in the world, dedicated to making art accessible to everyone.
Following the Opening Night Gala, LA Art Show opened to the public and brought in over 70,000 attendees over the four day period, delighting with more highlights and featured exhibitions than ever before.
Gavin Rossdale, an avid art collector, returned to the fair even after completing his Art Ambassador duties to see what was being shown this year. After spotting Chaz Guest’s “Jaajo,” a large-scale, mixed media painting depicting a buffalo, he purchased the newly completed work from Patrick Painter Gallery. Rossdale joins other high-profile collectors of Guest’s work, including Oprah WInfrey, President Obama, and Herbie Hancock, among many others.

Steve Diamant, owner of Arcadia Contemporary, reflected on the high volume of sales enjoyed at his booth. “We go to a lot of art fairs across the country. But the LA Art Show is our Superbowl,” he said. One of their best-selling artists, Loribelle Spirovski, created a portrait of rising pop-icon Troye Sivan, a major hit among fair attendees. On Saturday, Sivan himself happened upon the painting and posed for pictures in front of it.

Michael Goedhuis, Chinese Ink Painting Showcase
Ink paintings from China, Japan and South Korea were a major focus of this year’s programming—a major art movement that has developed entirely independent of western art history. Michael Goedhuis showcased the ten most important Chinese ink painters for the first time at LA Art Show, while Baik Art premiered new landscape paintings by Chuni Park, influenced by his recent road trip through California. These were just two of the many galleries showing ink painting this year.
House of Fine Art (HoFA), a gallery with long-established spaces in London and Mykonos, used the LA Art Show to introduce art collectors and Angelenos to their new Los Angeles gallery, which opened only three months ago.
Ferran Josa of Pigment Gallery, returning for the 4th year in a row, commented about always having unusually good experiences in Los Angeles. For his artist Rosa Galindo, all but one of her paintings sold.
Simard Bilodeau Contemporary reported high sales and interest from a number of new collectors. Their artist, Yalda Sepahpour, sold out for the second year in a row.
Rebecca Hossack of Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery was excited about sales across the board for her artists. She travels to over two dozen art fairs around the world per year, but notices that she sees the most traffic at the LA Art Show.

Many galleries shared the sentiment that this year’s fair offered both a way to meet with longstanding clients, as well as establish relationships with new collectors enthralled by the diversity and growth of the LA art market.
The LA Art Show also kicked off with one of the strongest Opening Night Galas in years, where Kate Beckinsale drew a crowd as the evening’s host, meeting with St. Jude patient families and delivering an address about the organization’s mission to the VIP area. Gavin Rossdale, this year’s Art Ambassador, reminded the audience that art can save lives. They were joined by previous host Emma Roberts, and stars such as Jessica Szohr, Peyton List, Cameron Monaghan, Joe Manganiello, Lance Bass, Amy Smart, Odette Annable, Brandon Boyd, Brigitte Nielsen, Evan Williams Bailee Madison, Kevin Zegers, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Perrey Reeves, Amber Stevens West, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Naomi Grossman, Davi Santos, Barry Sloane, Brittney Palmer, Ian Bohen, Denim Richards, Celeste Thorson and many more.

Las Vegas – Shin Lim “sleight of hand artist” and winner Season 13 “America’s Got Talent” winner is scheduled to headline Terry Fator Theatre May 31 – June 2 and July 26 – 28 at 7:30 p.m. He received over 55 million views on the “Penn & Teller Fool Us” YouTube episode and was crowned the FISM World Champion in Card Magic at the Magic Olympics in 2015. Tickets to see Lim at The Mirage Hotel & Casino go on sale Wednesday, Jan. 16 at noon PT.
Shin Lim redefines the way close-up magic is presented by performing carefully self-choreographed routines rather than pretending to defy the laws of physics. Combining dexterity, precision and grace, he has distilled a lifetime of training into a devious display of dancing digits. His mind-boggling finger moves are so masterful, the audience is left wondering if what they have seen is truly possible. Lim is respected by esteemed magicians for his skill and poetic performance and is considered an inspiration to many young magicians. Lim admits, however, that he is not a magician nor a wizard and has no intention of lying to the audience.

Los Angeles, Calif. – A special 80th anniversary event is coming to select theaters. In this classic musical fantasy, Judy Garland stars as Dorothy Gale, a young Kansas farm girl who dreams of a land “somewhere over the rainbow.”
Dorothy Gale is swept away from a farm in Kansas to a magical land of Oz in a tornado and embarks on a quest with her new friends to see the Wizard who can help her return home to Kansas and help her friends as well.
Dorothy’s dream comes true when she, her dog, Toto, and her family’s house are transported by a tornado to a bright and magical world unlike anything she has seen before. Unfortunately, she makes a mortal enemy of a wicked witch when the house falls on the hag’s sister. Now, befriended by a scarecrow without a brain, a tin man with no heart and a cowardly lion–and protected by a pair of enchanted ruby slippers–Dorothy sets off along a yellow brick road for the Emerald City to beseech the all-powerful Wizard of Oz for his help to return home.
